Serenity Ridge Staff

The executive director of Ligmincha International implements policies developed by the Board of Directors. The operations manager, under the guidance of the Serenity Ridge Executive Committee and with the assistance of part-time staff members, oversees the daily activities at Serenity Ridge.

Resident Teacher
Geshe Tenzin Yangton is the Resident Lama at Serenity Ridge Retreat Center. Born in 1974 in Chharka, a remote village in the Dolpo region of western Nepal bordering Tibet, he is part of the ancient Yangton lineage. In 1990 he became a monk at Triten Norbutse Monastery in Kathmandu, taking his vows from Yongdzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche. He attained his Geshe Degree from the Bon Dialectic School at Menri Monastery in Dolanji, India, in 2006. He has served as an assistant to His Eminence Ponlop Trinley Nyima Rinpoche, head instructor of Menri Monastery, and has been coordinator of Yanggon Thongdrol Phuntsog Ling Monastery, Dolpo Tsaga Welfare Healthcare Clinic and many other projects.

Stella RichardsStella Richards, Ph.D.
Operations Manager
Stella was introduced to Serenity Ridge by head chef Pat Leavitt and worked part-time in the kitchen for three years before becoming Operations Manager. Stella also has an ongoing part-practice as a depth psychologist, as well as a biodynamic farm that occasionally sells produce to the Serenity Ridge kitchen. She's delighted to be onboard and is now a student of Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche.

Chelsea CanedyChelsea Canedy
Chelsea lives in Maine with her husband Nick and two children, Graesyn and Finnegan. She began studying with Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche in 2007. Chelsea is a graduate of the second U.S. 3 Doors Academy and works as the program liaison and volunteer coordinator for The 3 Doors. She also is a parent educator for a nonprofit that provides services to families and children in Maine communities. In her remaining time she trains horses in the disciplines of dressage and eventing, and teaches riding lessons.


Maria QuintanaMaria Quintana
Facilities, Grounds and Housekeeping Supervisor
Maria was first introduced Geshe Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche in 2002 and is a devoted student and practitioner. She received Bon Ngondro teachings in 2000 from Lama Khemsar Rinpoche. Maria has studied, practiced and taught a t’ai chi for 25 years and is a World Champion and Olympic freestyle skier. She is a 2008 graduate of Stanford University, with a degree in teaching physical sciences. Among other positions, Maria has worked as an assistant program manager with Parks and Recreation in Santa Barbara, Calif., in charge of cleaning/maintenance of buildings and grounds and care of guests. She also is a volunteer with the Ocean of Wisdom website.
